about

Andy Says:
"The first minute and a half or so was written back in the aughties for a scene in the documentary film Laffghanistan where comedian Graham Elwood, who is touring for the troops in Afghanistan, begins to feel a creeping isolation close in on him. The scene is only a minute and a half long so that's all that was written. It remained that way until the haze of 2020 began to close in on me, when it popped back into my head unexpectedly & wouldn't leave. Seemed to fit the times. So we dusted it off, wrote the rest of it, and did a brand new recording. That's Annie Hayden on the higher vocal. She was on the original version too."

lyrics

Will someone take a turn, this head aches
There's nobody I know in this place
So gone to waste

Days go by with nothing changing
Just the memory slowly aging
Pages fading

Till I can't recall
The cool breezes of home
A conversation with a friend
It's gonna be a long while
Till I return to them

So when the Devil comes to cure me
His mildness will soothe me surely
And reverse me

And I won't recall
I'm in a town with windows shut
All broken down and boarded up
With just a memory of a memory of

The cool breezes of home
A conversation with a friend
It's gonna be a long while
Till I return to them
